New Olympus Stylus Tough cameras

February 8th, 2010

lumixts2-0

These Stylus Tough cameras come with 14 megapixels and HD video. Olympus in the camera market needs no introduction. In fact, their Stylus Tough range of cameras is proof to that. Proof as in these Stylus Tough cameras are shockproof, waterproof, crushproof and freezeproof. You may realize that not all brands have the power to offer all that in their cameras. With their new releases, Olympus claims that with the new Stylus Tough cameras, pictures are delete-proof. That said, we wonder why anyone would want to deleted these shots taken as every shot is outstanding, all thanks to Olympus’ new technologies. These include 14 megapixels, High-Definition video and 5x wide-angle optical zoom lenses.
Olympus cameras do last for a longer period of time as they are quite durable but the most special part of these cameras is that the shots taken look as real as a shot can be.
Nadine Clark who’s Olympus Product Manager said ““Because life’s an adventure you need a camera that’s tough enough to make the trip with you,” and she goes on to add “When you’re on the move, AF Tracking keeps the subject in focus, in-camera creative features give artistic freedom and sharp HD video ensures that your adventures will be more memorable than ever before.” The STYLUS TOUGH-8010 and STYLUS TOUGH-6020 are expected to be out in February. The Olympus camera package includes wrist strap, camera WIN/Mac USB cable, audio/video cable, Li-Ion rechargeable battery, manual, warranty card and OLYMPUS software on the camera. Let’s hope these new cameras will be a hit.

Sanyo Xacti camcorders releasing in US soon

February 7th, 2010

Sony-Xacti-GH2-CG102-and-CG20-Camcorders
There have been reports going around today about Sanyo’s Xacti HD camcorders. Word has it that these camcorders from Sanyo will be released later on this month in the United States. Though these camcorders have been renamed for the US market, these models are now called GH2, CG102 and CG20 camcorders. These HD camcorders are able to shoot in widescreen 1080i AVCHD (H.264) video and that is done in small case size which is made possible with a smaller image processor on this camcorder. More on the camcorders, the GH2 has a much more traditional casing and style compared to the other models but its functions are more or less the same as the CG102. These models feature 14.4-megapixel and they come with the double-range zoom that can extend to however far you want it to be (5X zoom to 12X zoom). Now for the CG20 camcorder, it looks a lot like the CG102 but differs in its features. It has 10.7-megapixel which is of not that high quality as the models we previously spoke about. SDXC memory cards can be used in these new Sanyo camcorders from 64GB to 2TB. Shipping will be in this month and prices are $229 (GH2 & CG102) and $199 (CG20).

They feature the same 1/5.8-inch, 1.37-megapixel CMOS sensor and both of these features are new from JVC. They will also be released with the all new Advanced Image Stabilizer, time lapse and auto record features, also new from JVC. Also onboard is a two-way grip belt. It’s the season of cameras with major brands announcing their new offspring. Coming soon will be Olympus Pen E-PL1 which will release in March at the price $599. The E-PL1 is a much-awaited camera considering that the Pen models last year was a huge success. This Olympus camera is also different with the brand claiming that it works just like a DSLR and has the advantage of being way smaller than a DSLR camera. This one comes with a built-in flash and a bigger lens selection. With that also come the two new zooms from Olympus which are 9-18mm and wide to telephoto 14-150mm. These will be available in May at the price of $699.99 and $599.99 each.

Olympus PEN E-PL1

Olympus PEN E-PL1

News of a rumored camera from Olympus has finally been made official. Apparently Olympus has kept the E-P1 moderate, in terms of price. As of now, we know that it is about $200 cheaper than the E-P1 and what’s more, it even features the same 12.3-megapixel sensor and 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 zoom lens. Olympus Pen E-PL1 is not just a point-and-shoot camera but it can also act as a beginner DSLR camera. And yes, a DSLR camera is cheaper than this one but it certainly isn’t as small as this one is. This camera is the third release from Olympus in their range of Micro Four-Thirds models. Aside from that, it offers a body-based image stabilization (works with any Micro Four-Thirds System lens), RAW+JPEG shooting, 720p high-definition video (records about 30 frames per second), manual shooting controls, auto mode, a hot shoe, in-camera editing features, and motion-tracking autofocus. We managed to get hold of the specs of this gadget for your viewing pleasure below. The Olympus PEN E-PL1 is what we call ‘A Sweet Deal’! Getting XBox 360 remote control to work in Windows Vista

June 1st, 2009

This isn’t the first manual of its kind but the existing ones are a bit outdated. It answers also questions that people often had.

You got the XBOX 360 HD-DVD external USB drive because you noticed HD-DVDs are cheap now and the drive itself is, too.
Since the one with the remote control costs as much you give that one a go.

Being at home you wonder how to get it working with Windows Vista. (This manual requires you to install the brand new Windows Vista Service Pack 2).

Yet it was only known that it works with Microsoft Remote Control Receiver 1.0A for Media Center PC but it also does with

Dell Ergonomic Remote Control (RC6ir) & USB Infrared Receiver (OVU4003)
(both look exactly like Microsoft’s version!)

What you also need is Microsoft’s TweakMC, it will allow you to tell the Media Center to allow also universal remotes.

You will find out that there is a readme file included in the source archive (there is no compiled version available) that you need Visual Studio 2008 to compile it.

Well, you can have it easier: You can create a batch file doing the job for you, see granadaCoder’s Post in the forums.

Run the program as admin.

Now go to “Remote Control Settings” and enable Universal Remotes.

Enable Remote Control ID to 0 that will allow it to respond to all remotes.

tweak-mc

After confirming and exiting you have to restart Windows.

Cool is (probably SP2 has new drivers shipped for it), that you can use now also keys like the channel up/down, volume up/down and “Mute” buttons for which the above mentioned guide refered to a key mapping software.

If you now worry responding to all remotes means if you use any other remotes in the near will cause your PC and its programs to react on the commands, then worry not; the setting ‘0′ makes it working only for universal remotes like the XBOX360 remote, the remote shipped with the receiver or the new Cyberlink PowerDVD remote control with BlueRay.
