Canon Powershot G10 – Black

Canon PowerShot G10 is a camera that features 14.7 Mega pixels CCD sensor, 5x optical zoom (35mm film equivalent: 28-140mm) and allow printing of photos in sizes up to A2.The model is suitable to shoot sceneries such as landscapes, architecture or interiors.
The 3.0 inch PureColor LCD II with 461k dots resolution viewing angle and optical viewfinder uses the DIGIC 4 for as its processor. 26 shooting modes with manual control and custom settings as well as accessories that include tele-converter, Speedlite flashes and waterproof case is available in this model with 30fps VGA movies. RAW image recording is available through support of Canon Digital Photo Professional. Exposure compensation with ISO 80-1600 is the sensitivity of this camera. Movie clips can be played in the camera with audio with its built-in speaker. Its product dimensions measures 4.30 x 3.06 x 1.81 inch or 109.1 x 77.7 x 45.9mm and the camera weighs 350g.
The Sound Memo options are activated by pressing the dedicated button on the back of the camera. It lets the users record memos or notes up to 60 seconds in length which are attached to still images. One can overwrite or delete previous memos too.
The G10 can also become a Sound recorder and record for up to 2 hours. One can choose the sample rate (44.100 kHz, 11.025 kHz, 22.050 kHz), but the recorded file size will change depending on which setting is used. Users can then play back the audio in camera. Files are saved in WAVE format, and are not attached to images. The length of a clip is limited by the amount of space available on the memory card.
The focusing range is given as normal at 50 cm (1.6 ft.)-infinity, macro at 1-50 cm (0.39 in.-1.6 ft.), wide at 30-50 cm (12 in.-1.6 ft.), manual focus at 1 cm (0.39 in.)-infinity and finally wide at 30 cm (12 in.) -infinity Telephoto.
Accessory system such as Canon’s Macro Ring Lite and Macro Twin Lite offers possibilities for close-up shots and other photography. Compatibility with the Remote Switch RS60-E3 allows shutter release when shooting with a tripod.
The Setup sub-menu lets the users mute camera sounds, adjust the volume of several functions, set Audio settings (Mic level, Wind Filter), adjust LCD brightness, choose the Power saving settings, set the Time Zone, set the time and date in the internal clock, choose the amount of time the clock is displayed, format the SD card the File Numbering method, create a folder, turn auto rotate on/off, set the distance units (m/cm or ft/in), adjust the lens retract time, set the menu language, specify the video out format (NTSC or PAL), set the print method, and RESET all settings to factory default.
The G10 also has TTL AiAF 9-point auto focus system which permits the camera to select the primary subject when off-center. Together with the model’s Canon’s Face Detection AF/AE/FE/WB technology, the model allows itself to detect, lock on and track up to nine human faces in a scene by pressing the shutter button halfway. The face detection algorithm prioritizes and selects the subject and not simply the closest face based on Canon’s Intelligent Scene Analysis/iSAPS technology. It will then adjust the necessary focus, exposure, and white balance to ensure results needed.
Next to this, the Canon’s anti-blur solution combats blur caused by camera shake and subject motion using a range of technologies such as Optical Image Stabilizer, Motion Detection Technology and Auto ISO Shift, plus new Servo AF which when engaged help adjusts focus on a subject moving towards or away from the camera.
Unlike electronic image stabilizer systems that typically cause degradation of image quality, Canon’s Lens Shift Optical IS system is based on the development of Canon’s EF and video lenses. Reduced in size to fit this model, this Image Stabilizer provides three stops of camera shake correction in shutter speed equivalent.
The Playback menu has options for starting an automatic slideshow, placing images in categories. Erasing files, protecting images from accidental erasure with the usage of i-Contrast to help brighten up subjects and backgrounds helps correct red-eye in portraits. One can not only trim and resize an image but can also change the color and use the camera as a digital sound recorder. This is done by rotating an image, choosing the Transfer Order when uploading images to a computer and choosing last image shot which is displayed when users enter the playback mode and select the transition between images.
The i-Contrast option allows users to detect dark areas in an image and save the changed picture as a new file. There is also an i-Contrast setting via the record menu which puts these settings in effect.
