The Canon Powershot SX10 IS Black Digital Camera is a 10-megapixel resolution camera that has DIGIC 4 Image Processor. The PowerShot SX10 IS is equipped with a 20x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 5.0-100mm (35mm film equivalent: 28-560mm).Its optical zoom is 20 times with lens maximum aperture F2.8 – F5.7 while focal length is ranged at 28 – 560 mm.
The camera comes in a 2.5 inch LCD size and style. It also has a rotating LCD resolution 230,000 pixels and
0.44 inch EVF size with 235,000 pixels resolution. Shutter speed range
is at 15 – 1/4000 sec while flash range is an Auto ISO at 0.5 – 5.2 m
(W), 1.0 – 2.8 m (T). Continuous shooting rate of this model is seen
at 1.4 fps.The model supports SD, SDHC, MMC, MMCplus and HC MMCplus type of memory cards. Its battery life is CIPA standard, with four 2500 mAh NiMH batteries that can deliver 600 shots. The camera uses a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) for lens movement with control. Focal length is indicated on the lens barrel. The camera features H.264 movie mode codec with 640x 480 pixels at 30fps at 45minutes of maximum recording time. It comes in dimensions 4.9 x 3.5 x 3.4 inch and weighs 560 g.
The model features a Movie Snap mode and supports the MOV video format which reduces data volume by 60 percent. There is also a couple of shooting modes to capture things. For example, with the Mode Dial, the
camera is able to choose the necessary exposure, aperture and flash.
This can also be done Manual Control where user can determine his own
settings. The Special Scenes Modes on the other hand is able to handle
some range of common shooting situations. All in all, there are
24 Shooting Modes including 11 Special Scene Modes.
The PowerShot SX10 IS’s Print or Share button is a feature for means of printing and downloading. By connecting the SX10 IS to a Canon PIXMA Photo Printer or SELPHY Compact Photo Printer or any PictBridge photo printer, one can press the lighted Print or Share button to print and use the Print or Share button to transfer images to a computer operating in Windows and Macintosh. About 28 different sizes can be printed and the Movie Print function is used to output stills from a recorded movie on a single sheet with a Canon SELPHY Compact Photo
Printer.
The camera’s 2.5-inch LCD screen features Night Display for viewing
in low light. It also has an electronic viewfinder that provides images
when shoot close-up with Super Macro shooting mode.
Canon’s DIGIC 4 Image Processor on the other hand helps control noise
to deliver image quality at 80 – 1600 ISO speeds. In case of sensitivity, ISO can be expanded to 3200 when ISO 3200 Special Scene
mode is selected.
iSAPS Technology is another scene-recognition technology developed
for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands
of different photos, iSAPS works with the DIGIC 4 Image Processor to
improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white
balance.
A face self-timer auto- detects an increase in the number of faces
and makes the appropriate adjustments. For instance, to include
photographer’s face in a group shot, one just have to put the camera
on a stand or tripod, and specify Face Self-Timer, and the camera will
wait for the photographer’s face to get on-camera before it takes the
shot. Motion Detection now tracks moving subjects in some specified
range, and the Servo AF retains focus on a moving subject after the
shutter button is pressed halfway.
DIGIC 4 also enables the i-Contrast (Intelligent Contrast Correction)
system, which controls the compensation level in pixel units to
brighten dark areas while leaving bright areas unchanged for better
images where the main subject is dark, and more natural transition.
The PowerShot SX10 IS can use i-Contrast in playback mode to adjust images that were shot without the setting activated.
Equipped with auto red-eye correction, the camera provides three options for removing red-eye from subjects in flash pictures. As for first, the red-eye correction during shooting will identify and correct red-eye in human subjects as pictures are taken. Secondly, the
SX10 IS can be set to detect and correct red-eye during image playback.
Lastly, one can manually locate any red eyes in a scene during image
playback on the LCD screen, and command the camera to remove them.
