The Canon Powershot SX110 IS Black Digital Camera is a 9-Megapixel CCD for with resolution of images of up to 3456×2592 and 10x zoom (36-360mm equiv.) macro close-up focus to 0.39 inches.

Widescreen of the model is 16:9 aspect ratio for HDTV display. The 3.0-inch color LCD with 230K pixels and 100% frame coverage uses the program AE, shutter-priority, aperture-priority and full manual. The movie mode without sound has 640×480 or 320×240 (30fps) up to 4GB or 60 minutes per clip. Shutter speeds from 15 secs to 1/2500 sec in Tv and Manual mode and 1.2 frames per second continuous shooting camera also has a built-in flash with auto, fill, and slow-sync modes. This model supports the SD/SDHC/MMC memory card compatible and is powered by two standard AA type batteries. The connectivity used is USB 2.0 Hi-Speed data transfer and the model is identified as PictBridge and Canon Direct Print compatible. The SX110 IS is available in two stylish colors, Silver or Black.

The camera uses the evaluative, center-weighted average or spot metering with ISO sensitivity such as auto, high ISO auto or 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 presets. The model uses the full auto plus 14 pre-programmed scene modes including all new Easy mode.

This system uses Canon’s gyroscopic sensors to detect vertical and horizontal movements, then moves the lens accordingly to compensate for such movement, which offers stabilility and focus when using the telephoto capabilities of this camera.

The SX110 IS features a Canon all-glass 10x zoom lens that covers a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 36-360mm. The maximum aperture range is from f/2.8 wide to f/4.3 telephoto. It makes long telephoto shooting practical. Despite its optical range, the lens is compact. By retracting into the camera when the camera is powered down, this unit allows the SX110 to retain its zoom status.

The SX110 employs a high-speed 9-point TTL Autofocus system. The users can choose from Normal, Macro and Manual focus modes as well as AF frame size, AP-Point Zoom and AF Frame options via the menu. The focusing range is given as normal at1.6 ft. (50cm) – infinity, Wide at 3.3 ft. (1m) – infinity (Tele) and Macro at 0.39 in. – 1.6 ft. (1 – 50cm) wide.

The manual pop-up speedlight has modes for auto, auto without red-eye reduction, flash on, flash on without red-eye reduction, flash off; FE lock, safety FE and slow synchro. Flash exposure compensation can be adjusted from of ± 2.0 stops in 1/3- stop increments via the Function shortcut menu. The working flash range is normal at1.6-9.8 ft./50cm-3.0m (W) and 3.3-6.6 ft./1-2.0m (T) when sensitivity is set to ISO Auto.

During playback, it functions at the delete button. The fourway controller on the SX110 is offers a control dial. All users have to do is to press the dial up, down, left and right, but it can also be rotated. As with past models, one has to press “Up” to change ISO, “Right” for flash mode, “Down” to change the Drive mode or “Left” to change focus modes. Rotating the dial allows its users to navigate the menu, search through stored images as well as controls various functions depending on the exposure mode being used like aperture and shutter speed values and movie mode. In the center is the Function or SET button which calls up the function shortcut menu, as well as accepts menu selections. Lastly, the Display button is used to control the amount of overlay info on the LCD and the Menu button to call up or dismiss the onscreen menu system.

The Playback menu has options for starting an automatic slideshow, placing images in categories, resizing an image, adding a sound memo, protecting images from accidental erasure, rotating an image, erasing all images, choosing the Transfer Order when uploading images to a computer and setting which image is displayed when users enter playback mode and choosing the Transition between images.

With a built-in Optical Image Stabilizer (IS), Advanced Face detection, DIGIC III processor, the camera offers point-n-shoot with zooming. The Optical Image Stabilization feature enables users to capture images with minimized motion blur. Users can perform shooting at shutter speeds 2-3 stops lower and the multi-mode Image Stabilization feature enable users to choose between Continuous IS which is always active, Panning IS which is active when vertical camera shake is detected and a “Shoot Only” IS mode which is active when the shutter is pressed all the way.

Canon equipped the PowerShot SX110 with Face Detection technology and a Face Selector button along with the new Face Color skin tone function which allows users to capture the necessary portraits. Furthermore, with the Easy exposure mode, this camera allows beginners to capture all sorts of image.
