Garmin nuvi 260W GPS
The Garmin nuvi 260W GPS is a GPS device that measures 4.8″W x 2.9″H x .8″D (12.2 x 7.4 x 2.0 cm) with a 3.81″W x 2.25″H (9.7 x 5.7 cm); 4.3″ diagonal (10.9 cm) 480 x 272 pixels WQVGA color TFT touch screen display with white backlight. The unit measures 6.1 ounces (172.93 g) and is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion that provides up to 5 hours of operation time.
The unit is not water proof, however it does support a high-sensitivity receiver and is available with a RoHS version. The nuvi 260W GPS supports basemap, preloaded maps and the ability to add maps for users. It also supports a built-in internal solid state memory and accepts SD™ card (not included). The unit allows users to store up to 500 waypoints / favorites / locations. The nuvi 260W GPS features voice prompts (e.g. “Turn right in 500 ft.”) via its internal speaker, speaks street names (e.g. “Turn right ON ELM STREET in 500 ft.”), Auto re-route (fast off-route and detour recalculation), choice of route setup (faster time, shorter distance, off road), route avoidance (avoid highways, tolls etc.), Custom POIs (ability to add additional points of interest), is Garmin Garage™ vehicles compatible that allows users to download car-shaped icons to the device, Garmin Garage™ voices compatible (to download custom voices to the device), world travel clock, currency & unit converter, calculator, picture viewer and Garmin Lock™ (anti-theft feature). The unit however, does not support voice-activated navigation (operate device with spoken commands), Lane assist (that guides users to the proper lane for navigation), 3-D building view (displays buildings in 3-D), auto sort multiple destinations (provides most direct route), is not Bluetooth® wireless technology (connect to usersr phone for hands-free calling) compatible, does not have MSN® Direct compatibility, does not have FM traffic compatibility, nor is XM® Navtraffic & Radio for U.S. compatible, does not support speed limit indicator (displays speed limit for most major roads), Where Am I? (find closest hospitals, police & gas stations, nearest address & intersection), Garmin Locate™ (marks position when removed from windshield mount), does not support Qwerty or ABC keyboard, Photo navigation (navigate to geotagged photos), MP3 player, Audio book player, FM transmitter, headphone jack/audio line-out, does not come with a remote control, dead reckoning. Is neither motorcycle-friendly nor Geocaching-friendly. The Garmin nuvi 260W GPS is a USB mass storage device that is compatible with Windows® 2000 or later and Mac® OS X 10.4 or later. The nüvi 260W, comes with preloaded City Navigator® NT for North America, vehicle suction cup mount, vehicle power cable, dashboard disc and quick start manual.
The Garmin nüvi 260W is a widescreen navigator that features speaks street names. The nüvi 260W comes ready to go out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps, including points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. It announces the name of exits and streets so users never have to take their eyes off the road. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes users there with 2-D or 3-D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. In addition, nüvi 260W accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets users set proximity alerts to warn users of upcoming POIs. It allows users to take it on foot with them as the nüvi 260W sports a slim design and fits in a pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery allows for navigation by car or foot up to 5 hours of usage time. The Garmin nüvi 260W also includes travel tools such as the JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. It also comes with Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature, and is compatible with Garmin Garage where users can download custom vehicles that show location on the map. It also comes with optional plug-in SD cards such as Garmin Travel Guides for detailed data on attractions.
