The nüvi 350 is a GPS device that measures 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inches (9.83 x 7.39 x 2.21 cm) with a 2.8 x 2.1 inch (7.2 x 5.4 cm); 3.5 inch diagonal (8.9 cm) display size with 320 x 240 pixels resolution. The display on this unit is a QVGA colour antiglare TFT screen with white backlight. The Garmin nüvi 350 weighs 5.1 ounces (144.6 g) and is powered by rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides users up to 8 hours operation time.

This unit is not waterproof. However, it does have high-sensitivity receiver and is available with an RoHS version rating. The 350 also comes with features like basemap, preloaded maps (with functionality that allows users to add maps), internal solid state built-in memory, accepts SD™ card (not included), and provides up to 500 waypoints / favorites / locations memory.

Voice Prompts

The 350 also features voice prompts (e.g. “Turn right in 500 ft.”) via its internal speaker, speaks street names (e.g. “Turn right ON ELM STREET in 500 ft.”), auto re-route (fast off-route and detour recalculation), provides choice of route setup (faster time, shorter distance, off road), and route avoidance that helps users avoid highways, tolls etc. The Garmin nüvi 350 is also FM traffic compatible (receiver and lifetime traffic is included with the unit), has Custom POIs (which gives users the ability to add additional points of interest), is Garmin Garage™ vehicles compatible, has world travel clock, currency & unit converter, calculator, picture viewer, MP3 player, audio book player, headphone jack / audio line-out and supports Garmin Lock™ (which is an anti-theft feature). This device also acts as a USB mass storage device that is compatible with Windows® 2000 or later and Mac® OS X 10.4 or later. The nüvi 350 comes preloaded with City Navigator® NT for North America or Europe, a vehicle suction cup mount, AC charger, vehicle power cable, dashboard disc, USB cable, carrying case and a quick reference guide.

The nüvi 350 is a GPS device that features City Navigator® NT street maps, including points of interest database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. The Garmin nüvi 350 takes users to a location with 2-D or 3-D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions by touching the color sunlight-readable screen to enter a destination. It also announces the name of exits and streets so users never have to take their eyes off the road. In addition, the nüvi 350 accepts custom points of interest, such as school zones and safety cameras and lets users set proximity alerts to warn them of upcoming POIs. The European version includes a preloaded safety camera database containing the location of safety cameras for parts of Europe. The nuvi 350 helps users avoid traffic jams with the addition of an optional FM TMC traffic receiver and traffic services. By adding these to the nüvi, users are notified of accidents or road construction ahead on route. The screen shows traffic details and recalculates route to avoid traffic. The nüvi 350 is powered by rechargeable lithium-ion battery for navigation by car or foot. It also includes travel tools such as an MP3 player, audio book player (subscription to Audible.com required), JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. It also comes with Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature, and is compatible with the Garmin Garage where users can download custom vehicles that show their location on the map and supports optional plug-in SD cards such as Garmin Travel Guides for detailed data on attractions. The 350 features a 64 K colour display on a 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inch body with 320 x 240 pixel resolution that displays map data and other elements on the interface. The unit also features a flip-up antenna which includes an MCX-type connector for connecting the unit to an external GPS antenna, a built-in speaker that resides on the back of the device, and comes with a 12 volt power adaptor for vehicle charging, which provides the unit with power other than its AC charger and lithium-ion battery. Its onboard 700 megabytes of memory is supports by plug and play USB mass storage as well, that allows users access to all audio books, music, photos, supplemental maps and other data on its internal and SD memory once connected to a PC. The nüvi 350 offers accurate position data, thanks to a high-sensitivity integrated GPS receiver by SiRF and WAAS-enabled, 12-satellite reception. The device is also supprted by Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press that contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. The multilingual word bank and phrase bank supports nine languages and dialects, including American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish.
