The HP iPAQ 310 is a GPS device that supports a high definition 4.3 inch WVGA Transflective color TFT touch screen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution and LED backlight. Users can adjust the backlight levels, with a night mode option that will automatically switch the map colors at nighttime for viewing. It is supported by a 128 MB DDR memory with 2 GB flash storage and centrality / SiRF / Titan Dual Core 600 MHz processor with 3D graphics.

The iPAQ 310 has 40 Channel with autonomy TTFF acceleration GPS, weighs 0.41 lbs and measures 4.30 x 3.40 x 0.70 inch. It supports Bluetooth® connectivity technology, and is powered by a battery that provides up to 4 hours of operating time. Audio support is via large speaker for navigation volume, integrated microphone with echo cancellation, and 3.5mm 3-pin stereo headphone jack. It is also supported by 1 mini USB, 1 headphone/line-out, 1 microphone in, and 1 GPS antenna ports, and 1 microSD slot. The iPAQ 310 is supported by input devices like the touch screen and stylus and is Bluetooth® 2.0 with EDR compatible. It also has SiRF embedded GPS receiver with InstantFix time-to-first-fix acceleration, HP navigation software with text to speech guidance and web based trip planning, digital video player, digital music player, picture viewer, games, Bluetooth hands free, calculator, world clock, contacts with Outlook sync. The device measures 4.3 inches w x 0.7 inches d x 3.4 inches h (110.20 x 18.20 x 86.80 mm) and weighs 6.6 oz (187 g). It is powered by a removable / rechargeable 1700 mAh Lithium-ion, as well as an AC Adapter.

The iPAQ 310 is supported by a SiRFtitan 600MHz dual core processor with 128 Mb of onboard RAM for route calculations and re-routing efficiency. This also means that the device is supported for optimal graphics displays like 3D navigation system. For select cities, users get 3-D models of buildings in space where users can pan and zoom into. The iPAQ 310 also features a 4.3-inch (diagonally) widescreen display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution. The iPAQ-310 navigation interface is based on Windows Mobile 5.0, with the main menu page presenting users with five different options: Navigation, Entertainment, Contacts, Extras, and Settings. The intuitive interface is clear and comes with text-to-speech capability, which allows it to offer directions with real street names, as well as Bluetooth® for hands-free phone calling. It comes pre-loaded with complete TeleAtlas maps for the United States and Canada, and 12 million points of interest (POIs). The unit allows routes to be calculated in several methods, including shortest, fastest, and most economical, with instructions to avoid certain road types and maneuvers, such as highways, toll roads, and U-turns. With is 4.3-inch widescreen the unit offers multimedia features via its 800 x 480 pixels, the high-definition resolution on the iPAQ 310’s screen which makes it a portable video player. Coupled with an SD card, the iPAQ 310 functions as a personal entertainment system with a video player, MP3 music player, photo viewer, and 5 pre-installed games from GameboxClassics. It also features integrated web services that allows users to plan a business trip, a vacation, or a run of daily errands that can sometimes require access to more data than a portable or mobile device can feasibly handle. This is provided by Hewlett-Packard’s website, www.ipaq.com that allows users to download map updates, load custom points of interest, travel reviews, reservation information, and more into the 310. users can synch up with a Microsoft Outlook address book to create custom points of interest based on personal or corporate contact information, as well as upload and share travel plans for others to use and customize, or find trip plans online to help explore along the way or at destination. The 310 comes bundled with a car kit, car charger, AC charger, sync cable, and slip case.

Other optional accessories for the unit are ExternalGPS Antenna that enhances GPS reception inside vehicles which comes with a five meter cable with low profile, non-sliding puck; Traffic Channel Car Charger which adds real-time traffic and travel information capabilities to the iPAQ GPS and integrated traffic data on GPS navigation software which provides alternate routing options for traffic jams, road construction, and accidents; Sport Case which is a sport-inspired construction with form-fitting design offers protection from scratches and knocks when on the go and comes with detachable carabiner clip to easily attach the iPAQ to a backpack or bag and offers slots to store memory cards; Screen Protector which protects the iPAQ screen from scratches and has an antiglare coating which allows use in bright sunlight (comes with an included cleaning cloth); and Bluetooth Stereo Headphones that will enable users to listen to music from up to 30 feet away from the iPAQ.
