Nokia 2600 Cell Phone – Red is a dual band GSM phone. Its features are Bluetooth version 2.0, VGA camera and Java™ MIDP 2.0. It is red in color.
Nokia 2600 Cell Phone is a hand phone with candy bar design and Xpress-On-Cover. It supports dual band GSM and dual band EGSM. It combines voice communication capabilities with multiple messaging options, including email, instant messaging and internet surfing with AT&T’s MEdia Net service.
In terms of physical outlook, it has a 1.5 inches wide TFT LCD display screen (128 x 128 pixels) with 65000 colors. It has standard numeric keypad and navigation control. The alpha-numeric keypad features a lined accent in orange that surrounds the middle three buttons and rises to include the navigation pad. The navigation pad is a square silver toggle with a black button located at the center of the square. User can assign shortcut to four user defined functions on the toggle. There are two soft keys, talk and end/power buttons located at the left and right side of the center square toggle button. On the right spine, it is the location for charger port and a 2.5mm headset jack. There is no volume rocker available for volume level control. However, user can utilize the toggle to change the volume level during a call. The single speaker is at the back of the phone.
The camera lens and mirrors are located above the single speaker at the backside of the phone. It has a built-in VGA camera. The still image resolutions are 640 x 480 in JPEG format. It offers three quality settings, self timer, night mode, digital zoom and multi-shot option. It also supports digital video playback. The Videos captured for multimedia messages are capped at 9 seconds. The supported video playback formats are MPEG-4, H.263 video and AMR audio. It has a built in FM radio. User can personalize the phone with MP3, ring tones and user-created ring tones. It comes preinstalled with demo versions of three games: Bubble Bash, Tetris, and Ms. Pac Man.
It is compatible with Java™ MIDP 2.0. It supports MMS 1.2, OMA DRM 1.0 smart content download and Nokia Xpress audio messaging. Nokia Xpress audio messaging allows user to personalize messages by inserting audio message. Xpress audio messages can be sent to all MMS-enabled GSM handsets. It has built-in WAP 2.0 web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. There are games, wallpapers, screen savers, sounds and ring tones available from Cingular’s Media Mall service. It also supports phone functions such as call divert, vibrating alert, conference call capability and voice mail capability. User can access to mobile email with email supported protocols such as POP3, SMTP and IMAP4. It also supports Instant Messenger (IM) such as AOL, Yahoo! and MSN.
For wireless interface, it is compatible with Bluetooth® technology version 2.0. With this features, user can connect to Bluetooth enabled devices such as headset and laptop. The supported Bluetooth profiles are HFP for hands-free car kits, HSP for communication headsets, DUN for dial-up networking, FTP file transfer, OPP for object push for business cards, calendar items, PAN for personal area networking, PBA for contacts transfer and SPP serial port profile. It also supports class 10 GPRS connectivity and class 6 EDGE connectivity.
The phonebook can store up to 200 contact entries. Each entry can store up five phone numbers, an e-mail address, a URL, company name and job title, a formal name and nickname, address, birthday and notes. It also supports caller groups and ringer/picture ID. User can pair contacts with a photo and save them to caller groups. However, each group can only be assigned with one of the eight polyphonic ring tones.
It is equipped with personal information management (PIM) applications. The applications are organizer with week and month review, localized calendar, advanced calculator, Converter II (metric/inches, temperature etc), 10 digit calculator with square root support, scientific and loan calculation features, English-Chinese dictionary, analog/digital clock and expense manager. There are also general applications comes with the phone such as calculator, countdown timer, alarm clock, to-do list, notepad, games, reminder and stopwatch.
It has 10 MB internal memory. It does not equip with the Micro SD expansion slot. It measures 1.9 x 0.5 x 4.3 inches in dimensions and weighs approximately 2.6 oz. The Lithium ion 870 mAh batteries is rated at up to 360 minutes of talk time and up to 24 days of standby time. The operating frequencies for dual band GSM are 850 MHz and 1900 MHz and for dual band EGSM are 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. It also runs on EDGE frequencies. It has a digital SAR of 1.43 per kilogram. The standard package comes with battery BL-5BT, standard charger AC-3, new AC-6C for China variant, HS-47 Stereo Headset and Extra Xpress-On Cover.
