Nokia E51 Smartphone is a quad band GSM smartphone. Its features are Wi-Fi networking, 3G compatible and PBX integrity. It is available in three colors: white steel, black and rose steel.

Nokia E51 Smartphone has a 2 inch QVGA display (240 x 320 pixels) with 16.7 million colors. It also features smartphone capabilities. It supports quad band GSM network service provider and provides quad-band connectivity in the frequency band of 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz. The operating system is Symbian 9 and Symbian S60.

In terms of design, it comes with a stainless steel frame and back cover. The standard numeric keypad is large and flat. The 5-way directional pad is rectangular in shape in which it is consist of a center key button and a thin navigation key ring surrounding the center key. There are four application launch keys flank the d-pad and call send, call end and two shoulder keys surround the application launch keys. The side buttons are volume buttons, voice command and mute keys. The top power buttons are covered with rubber.

It is a hand phone with mobile telephony, mobile email and messaging, office phone functionality, and cost savings due to phone number, voice mailbox and one dial plan are integrated in a single device. The One Touch keys allow user to access to key functionalities including email, contacts, calendar and the home screen with just one click. It is integrated with a wide range of business email solutions such as Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email and Mail for Exchange to communicate with Microsoft Exchange Server, and consumer email. It comes equipped with an ambient light sensor and an LED light indicator that can be customized to alert user of missed calls, incoming emails and text messages. The set-up wizards offer step-by-step guidance for setting up email accounts, configuring Internet calling and accessing wireless local area networks.

Furthermore, Nokia E51 is also able to integrate with corporate telephony systems (PBX) through Nokia Mobile Unified Communications solutions such as Nokia Intellisync Call Connect for Cisco and Nokia Intellisync Call Connect for Alcatel. With these solutions, Nokia E51 supports desk phone calling features including extension dialing, hold, transfer and conferencing. It is cost saving in which international calls can be routed over the corporate IP networks.

It also comes with the Nokia Office Tools 2.0 application bundle, which includes Nokia Team Suite, In-device Search, Quickoffice, Macromedia PDF reader, Zip manager, File manager, and Active Notes. The Nokia Team Suite provides easy to use UI for organizing and facilitating group conference calls, email messages, or text messages, while Quickoffice provides viewers for Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint documents.
The 2 mega pixel camera with 4x digital zoom is located at the back of the hand phone. It offers two resolutions for still image: 640 x 480 and 1600 x 1200 and three image quality levels. It can capture videos at up to 320 x 240 pixels and at 15 frames per second (fps). The phone has an integrated digital audio player and is compatible with real-music ring tones. The supported audio file formats are MP3, MPEG-4, AAC, eAAC+, WMA, AMR-NB and AMR-WB. It has an integrated FM radio that uses the included 2.5mm wired headset as its antenna. The video streaming supported formats are H.264 (MPEG-4), 3gpp, and Real codecs.
It is compatible with Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g) and Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with EDR. It offers Wi-Fi for home, office and Wi-Fi hotspots to make up for the slow EDGE speed. With the Nokia browser, user can access to internet services including interoperability with Windows Live such as Hotmail, Messenger and Spaces. The integrated Wi-Fi connectivity also allows user to make VoIP phone calls over an open network. It offers a variety of security settings such as WPA2-Enterprise, WPA2-Personal, WPA-Enterprise and WPA-Personal.

As for the Bluetooth connection, it has a range of Bluetooth profiles for communication headset, hands free car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, user can stream music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. The others Bluetooth profiles are AVRC for remote control, HFP for hands-free car kits, HSP for communication headsets, BIP for image sending to devices, DUN for dial-up networking, FTP file transfer and OPP for object push for business cards, calendar items, and pictures.

It has 130 MB internal memory and supports micro SD memory cards. The micro SD card slot supports high capacity SD cards up to 4 GB to store video and music files. It has a 2.5 mm Nokia A/V connector and a mini-USB 2.0 connector. It measures 4.49 x 1.81 x 0.47 inches in dimensions and weighs 3.53 ounces. The 1050 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.4 hours of talk time, and up to 312 hours of digital standby time. It also runs in 850/2100 MHz 3G UMTS/HSDPA frequencies.
