Nokia N95 Smartphone has a large 2.6 inch QVGA TFT CLD display (240 x 320 pixels) with up to 16 million colors. It has dual-slider design and candy-bar in shape. It has soft-touch finish on the back. It supports quad band GSM network service provider and provides quad-band connectivity in the frequency band of 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz. The operating system is Symbian OS S60 3rd edition, feature pack 2.
It has a two-way slider design. The navigation control is located below the display. The navigation control is consists of Talk and End keys, two soft buttons, a menu shortcut, a clear button, and a four-way directional toggle with a center select button. It is equipped with an ambient light detector to adjust the backlighting depending environment which helped to keep the display readable in various lighting conditions. The alphanumeric keypad appears by pushing the screen up. The keypad features tactile buttons with backlighting. They are raised above the phone surface. By sliding the screen the down, user can access to a set of media player keys. It is the function key for play, stop, forward and backward. The screen orientation will automatically change to landscape mode when sliding up which allows videos playback and photos viewing. The 3.5mm headphone jack, infrared port and micro SD expansion slot is on the left spine of the phone. On the right side, there locates the volume rocker, camera activation button and shortcut key to photo gallery. The top of the unit has the power button while the bottom is the power connecter and mini USB port.
The camera lens and camera flash are located at the back of the phone. It is guarded by a protective cover. It is a built-in 5-megapixel (2592 x 1944 pixels) camera with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens. It offers five quality settings. It is equipped with features such as auto focus and auto exposure. It offers seven shooting mode, close up or sports or night portrait, red-eye reduction option, brightness adjustment, contrast selecting, white balance option, color tone selection, ISO light sensitivity and exposure value. The supported still image formats are JPEG and EXIF. It can capture videos at a maximum VGA resolution of 640 x 480 with up to 30 frames per second. The supported video file formats are mp4 and 3gp. The Digital music player supports MP3, AAC, eAAC+, WMA and album art. It has built in stereo FM radio and supports Visual radio. RealPlayer is also onboard with 3GPP and MPEG-4 video streaming support.
It is equipped with general phone features including speakerphone, speed dial, conference calling, voice commands, a vibrate mode, and text and multimedia messaging. The additional phonre features are Push-to-talk mode and PictBridge direct printing. It is also equipped with applications such as Quickoffice document viewers (Quickword, Quickpoint, Quicksheet) and Adobe PDF viewer. For messaging, it supports IMAP4, POP3, and SMTP e-mail accounts and comes with full attachment viewer. It also supports a number of push e-mail solutions, as well as Microsoft Exchange Server synchronization. For phonebook, each entry can accommodate multiple phone numbers, work and home addresses, e-mail addresses, birthday, and more vitals. For caller ID purposes, each contact can assign with a photo and one of 44 ringtones or a group ID.
It comes with a built-in GPS receiver with support for assisted GPS (A-GPS). It utilized the satellites and cellular triangulation to find position. It comes preloaded with Nokia Maps application, which offers color maps, route planning and points of interest. User can also download maps or installed from PC with Nokia Maploader application. For turn-by-turn directions, upgrade service to the device is needed.
It is compatible with Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0 (EDR). With Wi-Fi, it supports Universal Plug and Play, which allows Wi-Fi connection to hook up with a compatible PC, printer, or home entertainment system. The available Bluetooth profiles are A2DP for music streaming to Bluetooth stereo headphones, HFP for hands-free car kits, HSP for communication headsets, DUN for dial-up networking and FTP file transfer. It also supports Infrared (IrDA) connectivity.
