TomTom One XL-S
The TomTom One XL-S is a GPS device that is portable and comes with preloaded maps of the United States and Canada. It supports TomTom MapShare instant map updates, and has 4.3 inch full TFT color LCD touchscreen (480 x 272 pixels, 64,000 colors) for users to view maps in detail.
The TomTom One XL-S also features Text-to-speech for spoken street names that allows for hands free navigation, real-time traffic and weather data, supports Bluetooth® 2.0 connectivity and is powered by an internal lithium-ion battery that provides up to 2 hours of operation time. The TomTom One XL-S also supports audio playback via an MP3 player. The TomTom One XL-S utilizes a high sensitivity GPS chipset, and is powered by a 32 MB RAM memory with 266 MHz CPU speed. The TomTom One XL-S has an internal memory of 1 GB that allows users to store maps and music and an SD slot (only for additional maps, SD not included) for memory expandability. The TomTom One XL-S measures 4.7″ x 3.4″ x 1.2″ and weighs 7.4 ounces. It has an operating temperature of 14 °F to 131 °F.
The TomTom ONE XL-S is part of the TomTom’s ONE line of basicportable gps navigators that features text-to-speech functionality on a widescreen, 4.3-inch display, expanded traffic options that include GPRS- and optional RDS-TMC radio-based real-time traffic information. The ONE XL-S includes TomTom’s Map Share technology. Map Share enables users to make changes to the map and to share map corrections with other TomTom customers so that users always have the most up-to-date maps available. Like TomTom’s other navigators, the ONE XL-S comes pre-loaded with maps for all fifty of the United States, as well as Canada, based on TeleAtlas map data and all stored on 1 GB of internal memory. The design with multicolor display makes for viewing of maps, routes, driving directions, and other traveling information, such as mileage and distance. Measuring 4.3 inches, the TFT display offers an expanded widescreen view of two- and three-dimensional graphics. The TomTom One XL-S also features 32 MB RAM and 266 MHz CPU, and allows users to connect the unit to a computer with a USB port and provided cable to add own points of interest. Memory expansion is made possible by an SD card slot. The ONE XL-S provides turn-by-turn voice instructions, so that users don’t have to take their eyes off the road while the vehicle is on the move. Voice instructions are issued at a speed-sensitive volume. As the vehicle’s engine becomes louder or quieter as speed changes, the volume adjusts itself accordingly. The voice instructions are available in over 30 languages. The ONE XL-S also features touch-sensitive screen, built-in database with points of interest for users to use as destinations or reference points as they plan their trip. The ONE XL-S will also provide a selection of available routes, giving users the option of avoiding toll roads or choosing between the quickest or the most scenic routes. The database on the TomTom One XL-S includes zip codes for route selection and users can save the addresses of frequent destinations. Other display features include a compass mode to assist users with directional orientation, and an anti-glare screen for optimal viewing even in direct sunlight. The built-in Bluetooth connection provides access to TomTom PLUS subscription-based services, so that users can tune in to the latest traffic and weather conditions, as well as download additional city maps, voices, points of interest, and much more. The ONE XL-S adds to these capabilities with FM radio-based RDS-TMC traffic information as an available accessory (not included). Weighing less than 10 ounces and measuring 3.4 x 4.7 x 1.2 inches, the TomTom ONE XL-S can be installed in any vehicle. An included windshield suction mount holds it in place. The TomTom ONE XL-S is powered by an internal lithium ion battery that can be charged from the vehicle’s cigarette lighter with the included 12-24V adapter. The TomTom ONE XL-S device comes with a windshield mount, USB cable, cigarette lighter adaptor, adhesive mounting disk, documentation pack, and product code card. IT is supported by TomTom HOME, which is TomTom’s free software that enables TomTom users to future proof and personalizes their devices. Via desktop access, TomTom customer can update maps, download the latest application, celebrity voices and more. TomTom HOME allows TomTom customers to update their TomTom device with TomTom’s latest software and services automatically and for free, buy and install the latest maps and European safety cameras, download celebrity and character voices, pre-plan trip itineraries and receive free traffic alerts on their computers. The TomTom XL-S GPS device has multi-language support for Catalan, Latvian, Czech, Lithuanian, Danish, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish, Estonian, Portuguese, Finnish, Slovakian, Flemish, Spanish, French, Swedish, German, Turkish, Hungarian, UK English, Italian and US English.
