These Stylus Tough cameras come with 14 megapixels and HD video. Olympus in the camera market needs no introduction. In fact, their Stylus Tough range of cameras is proof to that. Proof as in these Stylus Tough cameras are shockproof, waterproof, crushproof and freezeproof. You may realize that not all brands have the power to offer all that in their cameras. With their new releases, Olympus claims that with the new Stylus Tough cameras, pictures are delete-proof. That said, we wonder why anyone would want to deleted these shots taken as every shot is outstanding, all thanks to Olympus’ new technologies. These include 14 megapixels, High-Definition video and 5x wide-angle optical zoom lenses.
Olympus cameras do last for a longer period of time as they are quite durable but the most special part of these cameras is that the shots taken look as real as a shot can be.
Nadine Clark who’s Olympus Product Manager said ““Because life’s an adventure you need a camera that’s tough enough to make the trip with you,” and she goes on to add “When you’re on the move, AF Tracking keeps the subject in focus, in-camera creative features give artistic freedom and sharp HD video ensures that your adventures will be more memorable than ever before.” The STYLUS TOUGH-8010 and STYLUS TOUGH-6020 are expected to be out in February. The Olympus camera package includes wrist strap, camera WIN/Mac USB cable, audio/video cable, Li-Ion rechargeable battery, manual, warranty card and OLYMPUS software on the camera. Let’s hope these new cameras will be a hit.

There have been reports going around today about Sanyo’s Xacti HD camcorders. Word has it that these camcorders from Sanyo will be released later on this month in the United States. Though these camcorders have been renamed for the US market, these models are now called GH2, CG102 and CG20 camcorders. These HD camcorders are able to shoot in widescreen 1080i AVCHD (H.264) video and that is done in small case size which is made possible with a smaller image processor on this camcorder. More on the camcorders, the GH2 has a much more traditional casing and style compared to the other models but its functions are more or less the same as the CG102. These models feature 14.4-megapixel and they come with the double-range zoom that can extend to however far you want it to be (5X zoom to 12X zoom). Now for the CG20 camcorder, it looks a lot like the CG102 but differs in its features. It has 10.7-megapixel which is of not that high quality as the models we previously spoke about. SDXC memory cards can be used in these new Sanyo camcorders from 64GB to 2TB. Shipping will be in this month and prices are $229 (GH2 & CG102) and $199 (CG20).

We all know that Panasonic was the first camera brand to feature AVCHD lite HD video recording. The company is now gearing up for their next release, the successor of Lumix DMC-TS1, the DMC-TS2. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 features a 12.1 megapixels sensor, was dustproof and waterproof. All eyes are now on the DMC-TS2 to see what it will offer. For starters, we find the new look attractive, the new and changed look from its sibling. It’s a bit bigger, in terms of size, measuring at 3.91 x 2.48 x 0.96 in with the weight being 167g (without the battery). It’s still waterproof though for even deeper (33 feet) and quite durable (can resist a drop from over 6 feet). It can also be resistant in cold weather; we mean really cold weather (14 degrees Fahrenheit). It now features 14.1 megapixels and there have been some upgrades done in the face recognition area (technology) as it now can recognize up to 15 faces and can register three diverse images for a person. Other features include Power OIS lens-shift image stabilization (reduces hand shake); Intelligent Zoom and Intelligent Auto technology; 4.6x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom; Venus Engine HD (updated). The price of this camera is still unknown but we do know that it is slated to be released in March in the following colors; silver, blue, orange or yellow.

JVC recently announced a surprise addition to its HD Everio line of camcorders. The model is called Everio GZ-HM340 and it’s a mid-range flash memory camcorder. The other models in the Everio range were announced at CES last month and they all were mid-range flash memory camcorders. The JVC GZ-HM340 comes with 16GB of built-in flash memory. This 16GB of memory will enable the camcorders to record for at least 80 minutes and that too, in the best quality available (HD). There’s not much difference between this model and the previously announced JVC models except for the memory capacity. They feature the same 1/5.8-inch, 1.37-megapixel CMOS sensor and both of these features are new from JVC. They will also be released with the all new Advanced Image Stabilizer, time lapse and auto record features, also new from JVC. Also onboard is a two-way grip belt. They will all have 20x optical zoom.
This model will be released later on this month and will be sold at the price of $499.95.

It’s the season of cameras with major brands announcing their new offspring. Coming soon will be Olympus Pen E-PL1 which will release in March at the price $599. The E-PL1 is a much-awaited camera considering that the Pen models last year was a huge success. This Olympus camera is also different with the brand claiming that it works just like a DSLR and has the advantage of being way smaller than a DSLR camera. This one comes with a built-in flash and a bigger lens selection. With that also come the two new zooms from Olympus which are 9-18mm and wide to telephoto 14-150mm. These will be available in May at the price of $699.99 and $599.99 each.

On the other hand, Nikon is also busy preparing themselves for their Coolpix line of cameras launch. For starters, the Nikon P100 which will be sold at the price of $399 comes with a CMOS sensor, 10 megapixels sensor and a 26X zoom. The CMOS sensor helps in producing better quality images and there will be no shutter lag. The huge zoom will be good to capture images from far and the 10-megapixel sensor allows the camera to shoot at 10 frames per second.

Just a few hours ago, an image and a few technical specifications (from the industry’s experts) of the Samsung Galaxy 2 were leaked and unveiled. The Samsung Galaxy 2 is a smartphone which will be reportedly released in June 2010. Compared to Samsung previous releases, this one tends to hold its own candle against the others most probably as its features are better and much more interesting. The features we are complimenting are bigger internal memory space, an ARM-based processor, and a large display screen. Unfortunately for some (the ladies) and fortunately for the others (guys), the Samsung Galaxy 2 will only be available in black. Though all these are leaked info, we think it’s better to wait for the real thing (official press release) later on this month than continue to assume what the Samsung Galaxy 2 will or will not have.
