Motorola first announced the i1 at the CTIA 2010 event earlier this year. The phone works on Android and comes with iDEN push-to-talk functionality. Earlier, Motorola promoted the device as the world’s first rugged Android handset with iDEN push-to-talk functionality. Motorola also mentioned, some time back, that the phone will be released by Sprint.

As time passed by until recently, reports are surfacing that it will be Boost Mobile who will release the phone which makes the Motorola i1 the first pre-paid Android phone in the United States. It was revealed that Boost Mobile will launch the phone at certain retail stores such as Best Buy, for starters.

The Motorola i1 will be the first phone to be released by Boost Mobile. According to experts, Boost Mobile might offer the phone at a very low standard $50 unlimited data/web/text plan. The usual tax will be definitely excluded. If the reports are proven to be true then the Motorola i1 will be the first Android-based smartphone by Boost Mobile.
