Samsung new compact cameras: Samsung TL500

Recently Samsung announced its new compact cameras, four point-n-shoot cameras in all. One of the models, the TL500 comes with f/1.8 lens and a large image sensor. It is said that having these two particular features in a camera automatically make shots taken look really good even in low-lighting conditions. The Samsung TL500 was first unveiled at the PMA show in California a few days back. What it also features is an ultra-wide 24mm Schneider Kreuznach lens with a 3X zoom. Apparently, the Canon PowerShot S90 features the same sensor (1/1.7) and a maximum aperture of 2.0 so in a way, the TL500 and PowerShot S90 will compete against one another. Though, the Samsung TL500 features the widest aperture on a compact camera with its F/1.8 maximum aperture.
Other models announced by Samsung include the TL350 which is a high-speed camera that is able to take full-resolution stills at a rate of 10 per second and it can capture video at 1,000 frames per second. This one will be sold at $350.
